Earlier this year, Kim Dickens had a very memorable performance in Gone Girl as Detective Rhonda Boney opposite Ben Affleck. But next year, Dickens may make a bigger impression on TV.
Deadline is reporting that Dickens has landed the female lead of the currently untitled companion series for “The Walking Dead.” Dickens will play a high school guidance counselor who is in a relationship with a divorced teacher portrayed by Cliff Curtis. Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey have previously been cast as the children of Dickens’ character.
Very little is known about Dickens’ character, but she is described as having “a darkness to her [and] a troubled past that will come back to haunt her.” Dickens has previously appeared in “Sons of Anarchy,” “Treme,” “Friday Night Lights” and she will have a role in the third season of “House of Cards” on Netflix.

The series will take place in Los Angeles during the early days of the zombie apocalypse seen in the primary TV series and comic book.
AMC hasn’t yet given a series order to “The Walking Dead” companion series. But the project seems very likely to go forward with a premiere in 2015.
