Marvel Releases ‘Ant-Sized’ Teaser for ‘Ant-Man’

Earlier today, we joked that The Woman in Black 2 Angel of Death should have been released in “Squint-O-Vision,” since it was so hard to tell what was happening on the screen. Marvel Studios seems to have had a very similar idea in mind when they created this “ant-sized” teaser for Ant-Man, in which the footage is so ridiculously small that you can barely make it out. Hahahaha?

The “human-sized” teaser for Ant-Man is scheduled to premiere on January 6, during the series premiere of “Agent Carter.” As with a lot of these teasers for teasers – which we generally refuse to cover at CraveOnline because it’s just marketing for marketing, not even marketing for the film itself – Marvel is trying to use a sneak peak of their upcoming movie as leverage to get audiences to watch something else.

It didn’t really work so well when they tried to debut the first Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” because hackers scrounged that trailer up and debuted it early, but in this case, interest in Ant-Man may be low enough that nobody bothers.

CraveOnline is covering this particular teaser because we have to admit, it’s a funny idea. We’re glad to see that the studio is taking the inherent goofiness of Ant-Man and taking advantage of it. They began by adding a seat for the title hero at Comic-Con, but making it seem like he was too small to be picked up on cameras or microphones (get it?). We look forward to seeing where they’re going with the gimmicks, and hope they pull out all the stops by the time Ant-Man hits theaters on July 17, 2014.

As for the footage itself, it appears that Marvel didn’t even want to put any of the real moneymaker images into this little gag of a preview. We can make out establishing shots, actors walking, and that’s about it. Presumably the “real” Ant-Man teaser will show us a little more of the good stuff. If only a little…
