In one of the most “no duh” announcements of the year, Treyarch, who last developed Call of Duty: Black Ops II, told the whole world that there will be a Call of Duty in 2015, and they are the ones developing it.
COD in 2015 confirmed. We look forward to carrying on the conversation…that is, if we haven’t started it already. #InDevelopment

Treyarch’s tweet also suggests that they may have already started development on the next title, which again is not a shocker.
No word on whether or not the new title will be a continuation of the Black Ops series or an entirely new Call of Duty strain, but a return to the simpler mechanics of the old Call of Duty games would be a welcome return to form after Advanced Warfare went all “exo” on us.

Honestly, though, if anyone was surprised about a new Call of Duty this year, I would love to know. While there still are some questions to be answered about the newest title, we can’t really say this announcement came as a surprise to anyone. The next title is already tentatively announced for the holiday season 2015.
