Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead has been so successful that AMC has a potential spinoff series awaiting an official pickup order. But even in the unlikely case that AMC doesn’t give that project a greenlight, Kirkman has already landed his second television series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cinemax has placed a ten episode first season order for Outcast, a new horror drama based on the comic book series by Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta. In the TV adaptation, Patrick Fugit plays Kyle Barnes, a man plagued by demonic possessions since he was a child. In the present, Kyle discovers his connection to a dark secret that may mean the end of life on Earth as we know it.
Life on Mars veteran Philip Glenister co-stars in Outcast as the unconventional Reverend Anderson, who is fighting his own war against evil and his own, less literal, inner demons.

HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said.”We are thrilled to be in business with Robert Kirkman, a visionary talent who has the unique ability to tap into today’s zeitgeist, making him a perfect fit for the newly expanded Cinemax roster.”
One of Kirkman’s other comics, Thief of Thieves is also in development as a potential TV series at AMC.
Cinemax has not yet set a premiere date for Outcast, but production will likely begin later this year.
