Lionsgate Makes ‘Significant’ Investment in Telltale Games

The film studio behind Saw and The Hunger Games movies, in addition to dozens of others, saw something it liked in game developer Telltale Games, investing what it will only call a “significant” amount into the narrative-focused game developer, according to a press release. Best known for games like The Walking Dead and more recently Game of Thrones, Telltale Games now has an even brighter future with backing from one of the most successful film studios in the U.S.

Don’t expect the extra money to make Telltale’s games any more polished. Even after The Walking Dead: Season One sold like hotcakes, season two in that series still suffered from not-infrequent graphical bugs and shameless clipping, which was still present in the Game of Thrones games.

Kevin Bruner, new CEO of Telltale has been hyping via Twitter a new announcement from Telltale for a few days now, and this news is sure to add some gusto to Telltale’s demeanor.

While this is surely a part of that “exciting month” Bruner was referring to, the tweet implies more comprehensive news. We’ll be keeping a watchful eye on Telltale Games.
