Netflix Reelects House of Cards For Fourth Season

It took Frank Underwood two seasons to become President of the United States on House of Cards, and one additional season to hold on to power. The obvious next step is to run for reelection.

Netflix has ordered a fourth season of House of Cards, with Kevin Spacey once again portraying President Frank Underwood and Robin Wright as Frank’s wife, First Lady Claire Underwood.

House of Cards Season 3 premiered on February 27, with 13 new episodes. It’s likely that the fourth season will also include 13 episodes. Although Netflix doesn’t release its streaming numbers for original dramas, House of Cards is presumably doing well enough to justify its expense. Netflix put up a two season order for the series in 2011, and House of Cards has been its signature show ever since then.

There’s no firm release date for House of Cards Season 4, but it’s expected to premiere in early 2016 just as the real Presidential election heats up. Strangely enough, Frank Underwood’s numbers were reportedly higher than President Obama’s approval rating earlier this year.
