Well, Saturday night was fun.
Although Big Blue Nation will be talking for eternity about the shot clock violation never called, there won’t be any more talk about Kentucky being one of the all-time greatest teams. Wisconsin took care of that argument.
The Badgers took out the (previously undefeated, now 38-1) Wildcats 71-64 Saturday night. It’s the first time the Badgers have been to the NCAA title game since 1941, the longest drought between championship contests in history.
And oh ya, it was also Frank Kaminsky’s birthday. He dumped in 20 and 11 and will therefore be disappointed on April 4 every day for the rest of his life.
On the other side of the bracket, Duke took care of Michigan State easily, 81-61. It’s their 17th win in their last 18 games.
It comes down to Bo Ryan vs. Mike Krzyzewski Monday night in Indianapolis. Ryan, looking for his first title. Coach K, looking for his 5th, which would move him past Kentucky’s Adolph Rupp into second all-time, only behind UCLA legend John Wooden.
Duke defeated Wisconsin 80-70 on December 3. But good luck picking a winner. Both these teams play great defense, have length and pure scorers down low and from behind the arc. This will be a fun game to watch.
Tipoff is Monday at 9:18 EST.
