Later this year, MTV will adapt Wes Craven’s Scream as a TV series. While Craven is attached to Scream as an executive producer, he’ll soon be making a much larger push into television at Syfy.
Deadline is reporting that Craven has two series in development at Syfy. The first is an adaptation of Craven’s 1991 horror film, The People Under The Stairs. The second project is We Are All Completely Fine, an adaptation of Daryl Gregory’s novel of the same name.
Craven will write and direct the potential pilot episode of We Are All Completely Fine, which “tells the story of an enigmatic psychologist, Dr. Jan Sayer, who gathers survivors of five horror movie scenarios in a support group – and unwittingly unlocks the evils of her patients’ pasts. As their traumas are brought back to the surface, they uncover which monsters they face are within… and which are lurking in plain sight.”

The People Under The Stairs TV adaptation is being written by Michael Reisz (Shadowhunters), who will executive produce the project with Craven. The potential series is called “a contemporary Downton Abbey meets Amityville Horror.” The story revolves around the search for a missing woman at a family manor that reveals “centuries-old horrors that lie deep within the estate.”
