Organizers of the annual Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal announced this year’s star-studded line-up, and it includes homegrown talent like Mike Myers as well as Dave Chappelle and Neil Patrick Harris.
Weird Al will give a free outdoor concert on July 21st while Kevin Hart will host one of the gala events. Jane Lynch from “Glee” and Trevor Noah, the new host of The Daily Show, will also be there.
“I’ve been waiting to make that announcement since I’ve been doing this job,” Robbie Praw, the festival’s vice president of programming, said in a news conference Tuesday (The Canadian Press) about booking Myers. “I’ve been programming the festival since 2008… in 2009, [Myers] was here as an audience member and watching Martin Short’s gala,” he said.”
He later told The Gazette, “The stars we have signed already – and we still have a few more big names to announce in the coming weeks – have over 40 million Twitter followers. I’m still pinching myself.”
The Just For Laughs Festival runs from July 8-28. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10am and can be purchased via the Just For Laughs website.
