Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist are both veterans of Glee and they are both portraying iconic DC Comics superheroes on TV. But because The Flash and Supergirl are on different networks, their shows may never crossover.
However, that won’t stop them from having some fun.
Variety has released an advance look at its newest cover, which features Gustin and Benoist in costume alongside Greg Berlanti, an executive producer for both The Flash and Supergirl. The cover feature is actually on Berlanti himself, as he is currently the executive producer of six TV series including Blindspot, Arrow, The Mysteries of Laura, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow in addition to the previously mentioned Supergirl and The Flash.

Berlanti has noted many times that the three DC shows that he produces for The CW are meant to crossover and intersect. But despite The CW’s status as a corporate sibling to CBS, that network has shown no inclination towards allowing Supergirl to appear on any of The CW’s shows.
“The network has said publicly at this point they’re going to keep her to themselves,” explained Berlanti. “I always approach the shows as a fan first, so I would love to see (a crossover). I think in success, all things are possible. But there’s a lot that would have to happen before everybody might say yes to that.”
Until that happens, we’ll just have to settle for unofficial crossovers like this one. Gustin also posted two outtakes from the photoshoot that featured himself and Benoist mock racing each other before posing with Berlanti.
The Flash Season 2 and Supergirl Season 1 will premiere this fall on The CW and CBS, respectively.
