In a surprising but perfect match made in heaven, the theme song of Netflix’s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” has been mashed up with scenes from Mad Max: Fury Road by internet genius, Albert Lopez.
If you haven’t seen it or simply need a refresher, the theme song of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” is already a mashup in itself with footage from a news segment chopped-up and put with music to create the show’s uplifting theme.
Now it has been chopped even further to include video from Mad Max, and it actually works really well.
Scenes from the latest Mad Max movie are weaved through the theme song, with the words perfectly matching the badass female-led images. The “Kimmy Schmidt” theme howls, “females are strong as hell,” as an image of Charlize Theron head-butting a man and blowing up a vehicle are shown.
The sunny disposition of the Netflix show alongside the fiery, desolate imagery of Mad Max may seem like different worlds but they’re bound together by one thing – girl power.
