There are major spoilers ahead for Game of Thrones’ fifth season finale! You’ve been warned!
In the closing moments of Game of Thrones Season 5, Kit Harington’s Jon Snow was lured into a trap by his fellow Night’s Watch members, who proceeded to stab him to death. Subsequently, Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff insisted that Jon Snow is dead, and Harington even cut his hair while pursuing roles in movies.
But is this really the end of Jon Snow? Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has hinted that Jon Snow may be revived in the novels, despite the seemingly fatal events that befell him in Martin’s most recent book.

In a new interview with MTV News, Harington’s Game of Thrones co-star, Emilia Clarke said that she knows nothing about Jon Snow’s fate, and that she cried when she read the script for the season finale.
However, Game of Thrones takes place in a world where magic is real. Clarke acknowledged that when she said “If I had to bet, I’d say there’s like a 50/50 chance. There’s some very helpful people there who could bring him on back to life.”
Harington has previously insisted that he won’t appear on Game of Thrones “next season.” But does that word choice leave a potential return for Jon Snow in the seventh season? Benioff and Weiss have previously stated their intent to finish the series in seven seasons, and all of the other major cast members are signed on to the end of the seventh season.
Perhaps we will know more after this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Game of Thrones will have a massive panel in Hall H, but Benioff and Weiss are not going to be there.
