Donald Glover To Star, Write, Produce New Comedy Series ‘Atlanta’, About The Rap Scene

“Community” fans take a seat, you’re going to want to be stable for this one. Donald Glover, aka Troy, aka Childish Gambino, is set to star, write and produce his own comedy TV show for FX, called “Atlanta.”

Variety reports that Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield and Zazie Beetz have been cast, alongside Glover, for the show’s pilot which will revolve around the rap industry in Atlanta, where Glover grew up.

Glover will play Earnest “Earn” Marks who, along with his cousin Alfred Miles (played by Brian Tyree Henry) are attempting to break through the city’s rap scene — while at the same time, butting heads.

Glover created and wrote the pilot while Hiro Murai, the brains behind Childish Gambino’s videos for “Sober”, “3005” and “Telegraph Ave” as well as Chet Faker’s “Gold”, will direct.

“Atlanta” begins filming at the end of July. CAN NOT WAIT.
