Iggy Azalea Said She Had A ‘Psychotic Breakdown’ Last Year

In cover story for Schon!, Iggy Azalea still seems not to know how to culturally appropriate self-awareness. Let’s dig in, shall we? (via Complex)

Iggy Azalea is opening up like never before about her overwhelming 2015.

“Opening up like never before”?! Man, things are heating up!

“I had to have a psychotic breakdown last year,” Iggy admits to the magazine. “I felt tired and stressed out.” The Australian rapper reveals for the first time that this is why she had to cancel her Great Escape tour.

Actually, she just ignored her Great Escape tour by shutting out her management and failing to do promotion. During her interview with Seventeen in June  about the decision, the cited a creative change of heart” and shit on people who said she was taking a “mental break”.  So, yeah. Feel free to draw your own conclusions. Like she crawled into a hole from embarrassment.

“Last year, I felt like I was definitely not in control of the media’s narrative of meIt made me feel very out of control of my own life or my ability to have my own perception of who I was. You don’t want someone else writing your narrative and making you the villain. Then I just realized that, you know what, you can’t control it and I think I accepted that and moved on to living my life.”

You know what’s missing from this? Why people were making her the villain. I guess she just decided to skim over that part.

On a more positive note, her negative experience with the media turned into the inspiration for her new album, Digital Distortion. “Anything online is a double-edged sword, hence Digital Distortion. You can distort your own perception of self. You’re showing the highlight reel of your life.” Even better, Iggy says she feels “like my energy’s been renewed.”

OMG THE MEDIA! That was it. The media. The media made you routinely say dumb shit (here’s a timeline).  Sorry. I just realized I made you read a bunch of shit about Iggy Azalea. My bad.  We can stop now.
