Beverly Hills hosted the annual Rodeo Drive Concours D’Elegance this weekend, and the work of a most unlikely guest was on hand to give attendees a little extra show. Suffice to say, the mix of Lamborghini, Bugatti, Ferrari and Salvador Dali kept the gearheads thinking.
Set up by Two Rodeo Drive with the Beverly Hills Conference & Visitor’s Bureau, Galerie Michael and The Stratton Institute, the Dali Exhibit was ready in time for the Rodeo Drive Concours. With the Concours collecting blocks’ worth of rare, historic and elite vehicles for free public consumption, car lovers rubbed elbows with art lovers Sunday – or maybe they became art fans themselves.
This exhibition of 12 world famous Salvador Dali sculptures marked the first and most extensive outdoor showcase of Dali’s sculptures in the U.S. Though it was up in time for the Concours, the exhibit will remain on display and free to the public at Two Rodeo Drive until September 23, 2016.

The exhibit uses the warm sunshine of Beverly Hills to light up Dali’s three-dimensional bronze monumental sculptures. All works are on loan from The Stratton Institute – the holders of the world’s largest collection of Dali’s monumental sculptures.
The following sculptures took up residence alongside the classic cars of the Rodeo Drive Concours D’Elegance and will remain on display until throughout the summer now that the cars are gone:

- Woman Aflame
- Dance of Time I
- Dance of Time II
- Horse Saddled with Time
- Triumphant Ange
- Triumphant Elephant
- Snail and the Angel
- Surrealist Piano
- Surrealist Warrior
Starting June 25 and continuing through the run of the exhibit, Galerie Michael will offer free docent tours of the collection on weekends at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The exhibit also partnered with Operation Smile – “an international non-profit medical organization dedicated to improving the health and lives of children in developing countries with access to surgical care for those born with cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial deformities.” Donations raised during the show and a percentage of any sales of purchased sculptures will benefit that effort.
