2016 L.A. Auto Show: Nissan, ‘Star Wars’ Team Up to go ‘Rogue’

There was a Nissan Rogue before Disney bought Lucasfilm and announced a new Star Wars movie called Rogue One. But, all of those companies and their various rogues came together at the L.A. Auto Show to announce the 2017 Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition.

Nissan got out ahead of their sadly Force-less automotive competition, building the first production vehicle ever to include an official Star Wars branded element. To celebrate the tie-in, Nissan will be getting imperial all week at the L.A. Auto Show by employing Stormtroopers to guard the Nissan Rogue: Rogue One display vehicles.

There will be more standard colors and trims for the upcoming 2017 Nissan Rogue, but these special edition Star Wars versions include special branding and opt for the black and while made popular by the forces of evil in a galaxy far, far away.

Nissan will built 5,400 Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition vehicles, and they will only be made available to buyers willing to say the vehicles entire name each and every time they refer to their sci-fi dream machine. While that’s not true, we all know there are Star Wars fans out there that would do just that religiously if it got them one of these Rogues.

With their new Rogue, each Wookie-loving buyer also receives an exclusive, “full size” and officially numbered collectible Death Trooper helmet. It’s fair to Nissan scored another first here by linking one of its vehicles to the concept of a Death Trooper. Those aren’t words you’re likely to see other car companies rush to embrace — except for maybe Tesla.
