2016 L.A. Auto Show | All New EcoSport – Ford’s Smallest SUV

While Ford still builds the Mustang and its GT supercar, there’s no question the automaker is fully committed to future themes of economy and ecology over horsepower. To that end, it’s even calling itself a “mobility company” more than just a car builder.

Naturally enough, Ford introduced its smallest and most fuel efficient SUV at the L.A. Auto Show – the Ford EcoSport. Resembling a larger, taller hatchback than what we’ve called an SUV in the past, the EcoSport will arrive in 2018 with 1.0 liter three cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost or 2.0 liter four cylinder engine

The EcoSport will offer four trim levels — the S, SE, SES and Titanium. The SES builds in the most features, including, intelligent four wheel drive, sport-tuned suspension and steering and unique styling with copper accents for the interior and sport seats. All trim levels can come in 10 exterior color choices and seven ambient lighting options.

Inside, Ford looks to serve up the best possible infotainment system with an available premium B&O PLAY audio system from HARMAN. That 675-watt B&O PLAY system is standard on the EcoSport Titanium, features 10 speakers, including B&O PLAY-branded tweeters and woofers in the front doors and a subwoofer in back. All trims of the EcoSport provide HD Radio technology, SiriusXM satellite radio and a dual FM radio antenna.

Interior technology includes Ford’s reinvented SYNC 3. Owners will also have the ability to start, lock, unlock and locate their vehicle from using available SYNC Connect with the FordPass mobile app. The little SUV gives the driver two USB ports, a 12-volt power outlet, a 110-volt outlet positioned behind the center console and another 12-volt outlet in the rear seat.
