W Hotel Channels Boston’s Rich Rebellious Influence in New Suite Revamp

There is no city in America with more history steeped within its streets and brick and mortar walls as Boston, Massachusetts. Many a revolution started there, so it’s fitting that the trend-setting design in the W Boston’s modern-luxury suites draw inspiration from the city’s various uprisings.

The W Boston has unveiled a complete redesign of their Extreme WOW, WOW, and Marvelous suites that are heavily influenced by “smoke and ember”, signifying Boston’s rebellious past. The smoked glass and charred wood are callbacks to the first battle of the Revolutionary War in Concord; angular, raven-colored light fixtures are a reflection of Edgar Allen Poe’s spirit.

Further inspiration from The Boston Tea Party and Boston’s legendary Rock Bands can be found throughout, even within the subtleties of each room – the bright colors and bold gold and animal prints on throw pillows are reminiscent of the musicians that performed down the street in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

The suites are appropriately named, as the “WOW factor” is ever-present. The rooms are wrapped in floor to ceiling glass windows. The flooring is made of dark oak and walnut sourced from New England, giving each room a sharp, modern look against the stark white walls. The suites are equipped with 55” and 65” inch flat screen TVs that can be synced with a smartphone to pair the mood with the music the rooms were inspired by. Most striking of all are the bedroom wall murals commissioned by Spanish artist Antonio Mora, who developed surreal hybrid artworks that blend human faces with the ‘smoke and fire’ themes.

Despite the edgy motif, there is a brilliant contrast of comfort in these suites. As more people look toward Airbnb to give travelers that “home” feel, the W’s suites are so livable, tourists may want to cancel their plans to visit Faneuil Hall or Fenway Park to just kick back and relax. In fact, the W Boston gives plenty of reason to stay in. From the posh Bliss Spa, to The Gallery restaurant in partnership with Liquid Art House that provides the perfect backdrop for Chef Derek Barragan’s Latin American flavor, there is so much do to within the confines of the W hotel.

For those looking to explore, the W Boston is located dead smack in the middle of the Theater District, and is just a stone’s throw from award-winning restaurants, trendy cocktail bars, and a handful of Boston’s best clubs. Those taking advantage of the nightlife can keep the party going long after the DJ spins their last track by bringing the fun back to the impressive, roomy, luxury suites – to Wow friends and party like the rockstars that inspired the design in the first place.
