NYIAS 2017: Jaguar Adds Four Cylinder Engine to F-Type Line

It was such a big day for Jaguar at NYIAS 2017 that the latest versions of its F-Type almost got lost in the shuffle. But, the introduction of a version that might bring the sports coupe closer to more buyers was big enough news on its own.

While the Jaguar F-Pace was winning World Car of the Year, the automaker brought the total number of F-Type variations up to 24 with a new turbocharged 296 horsepower Ingenium four-cylinder engine. Add that less fierce, but still perfectly styled four cylinder F-Type to the group and the overall MSRO sales range changes from $59,900 and $125,000. They’re not giving it away, but lower price point came down a tick.

Throughout all of the F-Type trim levels, Jaguar packs in the InControl Touch Pro Infotainment system is standard across the F-TYPE line-up for 2018. Also lighter, slimline seats in all versions look to improve ergonomics and comfort with a weight savings of more than 17 lbs.

With the original version of the F-Type styling pulling down its own share of Car of the Year awards when it first debuted, Jaguar left the overall look of the car intact, with the exception of an enhanced front fascia, new full-LED headlights, front bumpers and air intakes. The F-Type trims should arrive in showrooms and via online ordering by midyear, 2017.
