JLR Introduces Its Fastest Luxury Sedan – Jaguar XE SV Project 8

Jaguar Land Rover put this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed to unveil its latest and fastest sport sedan. In fact, the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 intends to sit at the top of the industry’s performance sedan list with added power and all-wheel-drive.

The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 will be the first car completely hand-built by Jag’s Special Vehicle Operations department at the new $25 million SVO Technical Center in Warwickshire, UK. The automaker will build only 300 of Project 8s for sale late this year.

SVO’s upgrades to the standard Jaguar XE include aluminum and carbon fiber exterior panels to remove weight and improve performance. It would seem like mission accomplished as the Project 8 knocks down 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph.

To pull off that speed, Jag SVO implemented a new, proper and beautiful 592 horsepower, 5.0 liter, supercharged V8 engine. And it burns gasoline. Amen.

To bring all of that power to stop, the Project 8 uses a new Carbon Ceramic Braking system and F1 silicon nitride ceramic wheel bearings. The driver can manually adjust ride height, aerodynamics and Intelligent Driveline Dynamics inside the vehicle to differentiate between road drive or for track day use.
