Let me first preface this by saying that Johnnie Walker is doing this for a good cause, so this is certainly not going down the same route that Doritos and their ‘lady-friendly’ chips did. In fact, this is all about Johnnie Walker supporting women and their movement.

Starting March 1st, the Johnnie Walker Black Label Jane Walker Edition bottles will be available in the U.S. for $34, with makers, Diageo, donating $1 from each bottle sold to organizations championing women’s causes. One of those causes the donation money will head to will be to charity Monumental Women, which is all about creating a statue in Central Park to honor America’s female suffragists.

Here’s what Stephanie Jacoby, the vice president of Johnnie Walker had to say about this:

“Important conversations about gender continue to be at the forefront of culture and we strongly believe there is no better time than now to introduce our Jane Walker icon and contribute to pioneering organizations that share our mission.

We are proud to toast the many achievements of women and everyone on the journey towards progress in gender equality.”

According to CNBC,  Johnnie Walker has been “influenced by women since its founding, with John Walker’s wife Elizabeth being “fundamental” to its creation. John Walker & Sons also bought the Cardhu distillery from Elizabeth Cumming in 1893.”

This new Jane Walker bottle will be launched to coincide with Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, which is on March 8. So shoutout to all you gals.
