I’ve been stuffing my face with Taco Bell and immediately going to the bathroom afterwards for as long as I can remember, and today is the first time I’m learning that Taco Bell wasn’t named after an actual bell, but after a man named Glen Bell.
Kudos to Jezebel for bringing this to my attention as they made us all aware that on Wednesday evening the New York Times published an article about a Trump fundraiser and whatnot. But the important part mentioned is the Taco Bell part, obviously. Take a look at the screenshot below:
Just like the writer of Jezebel was shocked at this revelation, so was I as this entire time I honestly thought Taco Bell was named after an actual bell that was rung when a batch of tacos was ready to be devoured. Never did I figured that it was named after a man. Now many people may not know this, but good old Glen Bell passed away in 2010.

And before serving us all fantastic tacos, Bell actually served in the Marine Corps during WWII, so this guy was just doing good for everyone.
Here’s another fun fact about Taco Bell: it started off called Bell’s Hamburgers and Hot Dogs, and it was actually just a stand in San Bernardino in 1951. But don’t take my word for it, take it from this animated short:
