Even though summer doesn’t officially start until June 21st, Memorial Day is essentially the unofficial indicator the season is upon us. While most adults are using the occasion to knock down their favorite brews and listening to some sweet tunes at a backyard BBQ, others prefer a different refreshing treat.
Keep in mind, we are only sticking to the basics when it comes to popsicle flavors (“popsicle” being a general term in this case, not the brand). There are really only seven main flavors (give or take watermelon), so those are the ones we chose. From there, agree with our ranking or fight us on it. Either way, it’s going to go down smooth.
We’ll admit, bold #1 choice. Let us have it in the Facebook comments.
RANKED! Popsicle Flavors
-
7. Root Beer
Root beer is a soda, not a flavor, and it should stick to what it knows. You can't go pick a root beer off a tree, and you damn well shouldn't freeze it into a treat. Well, except for root beer floats. Those rock!

6. Banana / Lemon
No matter how you slice it, if you're eating a yellow popsicle, you're fake enjoying yourself.
-
5. Blue Raspberry
We're not knocking blue raspberry as a flavor in general, it's just not among the greats in popsicle land. Jolly Ranchers? Sure. But BR is a background character tops when it comes to sweet summer treats.
-
4. Cherry
Cherry is probably most folks number one choice, but if you ask us, the flavor can be a bit bold at times. If you go with the sugar-free version, perhaps that's a different story, but such a strong cherry flavor isn't exactly the most refreshing of the popsicle tastes.
-
3. Grape
Grape would probably outrank our #2 spot if not for its inconsistency. You never really know with grape-flavored pops whether they will hit the mark or fall flat. Don't get us wrong, a quality grape popsicle is numero two-o every time. But we just can't take the risk.
-
2. Orange
Orange you glad we didn't say banana? (That would have been much funnier if the list was going in the other direction.) Despite our joke failing to land, orange never disappoints.
...so, what's left?

1. Lime
It might not hit the spot quite like a mojito, but the lime goodness always soothes the throat, and refreshes to boot. We honestly hate the Popsicle (the brand) doesn't include Lime along with Cherry, Orange, and Grape. It's the de facto flavor in our book -- a book some might reopen and spit on the second they read this.
