Is there any better food than peanut butter? We think not. It can be a condiment or a meal, paired with sweet or salty foods, and comes in creamy and crunchy textures. Slather it on a sandwich or eat it off a spoon. It’s your call how you choose to enjoy this spread.
But let us be clear: as awesome as peanut butter is, not all peanut butter is the best peanut butter. There are good peanut butters and there are better peanut butters, and we went to the trouble of trying a shit-ton of the stuff to discern which PBs are worthy of your hard-earned dough.
So, without further ado, and in honor of National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day on March 1, we’ve ranked the best peanut butter brands. Gentleman, grab a cup of milk and your favorite utensil. Let’s dig in.

Best PB Brands
-
10. Justin's
While this brand may be the bougiest on this list, it suffers from one major flaw: lack of flavor.
-
9. 365 Everyday Value Organic
For the hefty price, we expected more from this Whole Foods store brand. But it's still a satisfying nut butter.
-
8. Good and Gather
Target's got a good thing goin' on with its store brand PB. Just don't let the unusually dark coloring turn you off.
-
7. Skippy
Smooth and spreadable, this is a solid go-to peanut butter, but it lacks the depth of flavor of competitor brands.
-
6. Peter Pan
If you like your PB on the sweet side, you'll be going back for seconds of Peter Pan peanut butter. It's magically delicious.
-
5. Reese's
If you were expecting the same stuff that's inside a Reese's peanut butter cup, you'll be disappointed, but if you're just looking for something to build the perfect sandwich, this peanut butter is pretty tasty.
-
4. MaraNatha
Natural peanut butters can be alternately too dry or too oily, but this once strikes a satisfying balance.
-
3. Smucker's
For the peanut butter enthusiast who's wary of natural brands, this is a good entry-level PB. Add a dollop of honey and you'll be in peanut butter heaven.
-
2. Peanut Butter & Co.
This brand is basically the Ben & Jerry's of peanut butter. So many flavors, so little time.
-
1. JIF
This peanut butter just tastes like nostalgia. While it's mass-produced just like many of the PBs on this list, what makes it stand out is its special ingredient: molasses. The only bad thing about it is how long it takes to remove the seal when a severe PB craving hits. Just leave us alone with a tub full of JIF and a big spoon, thanks.
