There never has, and never will be, a better description for an app than “it’s Tinder for dogs”.
But while BarkBuddy may not be an app which allows you to organize a doggy date, its actual function is far more useful and heartwarming: it allows you to search for adoptable dogs.
The app, which is currently available in the US and Canada, sources photos from PetFinder and the shelters belonging to co-creators Bark & Co. in order to compile a list of over 300,000 dogs, which you can then arrange to adopt.
The app allows you to filter specific results such as gender, activity level and size, before selecting your dog using its Tinder-esque swipe feature. The names and descriptions of each dog are also available to view, as is the location of the shelter the dog is currently housed in. From the app you can arrange to meet with the employees of the shelter in order to discuss adopting the dog you found using the app.
