Are You Man Enough For the 5.11 Tactical Kilt?

It takes a real man to head into combat wearing a kilt. It takes a strong man. A confident man. A man who appreciates the freedom of movement and refreshing ventilation a kilt brings, yet isn’t afraid of what a slight breeze might reveal.

And for that man, 5.11 Tactical has created the Limited Edition Tactical Duty Kilt. Sound like a joke? At one point it was. A couple of years ago, 5.11 Tactical released an April Fool’s Day video of guys performing all sorts of military-style operations while wearing a “Tactical Duty Kilt” or TDK, enhanced for use in the field. It was meant to be funny. Then the requests for orders started pouring in.

Guys wanted to go all Braveheart, and actually wear the TDK into action. Not wanting to disappoint their highly trained and substantially armed customers, 5.11 finally released the TDK this year.

Designed to stand up to the demanding needs of duty-driven operators, first responders and other professionals, the TDK is 5.11’s version of a traditional kilt, just with a few substantial upgrades – including a tough Teflon finish on the TDK’s ultra-durable, lightweight, 6.14-ounce TDU Ripstop material to keep your kilt looking good no matter what conditions it’s in, or what gets thrown at it.

Because this kilt isn’t made just for show, there are also detachable cargo pockets with gun magazine compartments, and a reinforced knife clip area included in the TDK’s deep front pockets. The Tactical Duty Kilt boasts six belt loops that can handle a 1-3/4″ Operator Belt, and two front D-rings so you can clip on whatever other gear you may need to get the job done. It gives a whole new meaning to “Going Commando.”

Your purchase of the 5.11 Tactical Duty Kilt doesn’t just help you in the field. With every TDK sold, 5.11 is donating $10 to We Salute You Veterans Foundation, a non-profit organization providing housing and services to veterans in need.

Although not technically a fashion piece, the TDK is available in a wide selection of colors, including Black, Coyote, TDU Green, Tundra, TDU Khaki, Dark Navy, Charcoal, MultiCam and Realtree Xtra for those occasions when the hunting weekend calls for a little more movement.

The 5.11 Tactical Duty Kilt ranges from $69.99 to $79.99 (depending on color choice) and are only available while supplies last. So grab yours before they’re all deployed. And don’t call it a skirt or you might just get an M-4 shoved where the Colonel can’t find it.
