Panasonic is expanding its development in Ultra HD technology with the Australian release of four new 4K television models to come during the second half of this year.
The Japanese-based electronic corporation will headline its 2014 4K models with an updated version of its flagship AX900 series as well as the more modest priced line of AX800 models.
According to Panasonic, the Ultra-HD 4K TVs combine “the brightness of LED with the deep, robust blacks and fast motion response of plasma” across both an 85 and 65-inch version of the AX900, scheduled to hit shelves later in the year. The smaller AX800 is already available in both 65 and 58-inch sizes at $5,999 and $4,399 respectively.
The Panasonic 4K technology offers four times the resolution of a Full HD TV (eight million pixels compared to two million) and remains part of the brand’s Android and iOS compatible Life+Screen movement, offering personal program recommendations, recording storage and an info hub with internet and email access.
“The brand new Studio Master Colour ensures rich, accurate colour reproduction, while the LED backlight achieves the wide colour gamut that typified our world-class plasma screens,” says Panasonic. “High contrast and rich gradation achieved by the Local Dimming Pro ensures the deepest blacks, while the 4K Fine Remaster Engine delivers beautiful 4K pictures from virtually any source.”
Panasonic’s decision to move away from plasma technology to Ultra-HD has seen the company already begin work to develop an 8K, 85-inch concept model.
