Potato Salad Kickstarter is on Track to Reach $100,000

Internet, you can be pretty damn weird sometimes.

A Kickstarter project that initially asked for $10 in donations in order for the creator to make a potato salad (yes, you read that right) is now surging towards the $100,000 mark, after collecting nearly $60,000 with 24 days of the campaign still left to go.

Set up by Zack “Danger” Brown, the Kickstarter has attracted a huge amount of support from people looking to take this joke as far as it can possibly go. To his credit, Zack has stated that he will be using some of the money from the campaign to host a “potato salad party” for backers, though that will only take up $3,000 of the money he’s earned from the project.

Inevitably, the potato salad Kickstarter has received some criticism for its perceived hijacking of the crowd-funding site’s format, with many claiming that it is overshadowing more worthwhile projects that are currently struggling to receive adequate funding, but the most brilliant minds among us will always have their critics, and in managing to acquire more money than an average person’s yearly wages in order to create a simple potato salad, Zack is arguably a genius.
