Omaha Steaks Come through with Labor Day Recipe

We put out the call for the best Labor Day grilling recipes, and the meatheads behind the Omaha Steaks came through with thick slabs of quality ideas for your weekend cookout — the last party of the summer.

Of course, Omaha Steaks would like you to use their meat for said recipes, but you’re under no obligation. They won’t send Arnie Barnes after you. Meanwhile, we’ll be along tomorrow with more cocktail recipes for you to pair with all this beef.

Steak Burger with Grilled Cherry Heirloom Tomato and Fennel Salad on Grilled Sour Dough

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes Total Time: 30 minutes

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 4 each Omaha Steaks Burgers
  • 8 Slices Artisan Sour Dough Bread 1/4 cup Stone Ground Mustard
  • 1/2 cup Arugula
  • 3/4 cup Cherry Heirloom Tomatoes
  • 2 Tbsp Fennel Greens (rough chop)
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Fresh Garlic Minced
  • 1 tsp. Balsamic Vinegar
  • Sea Salt – To Taste
  • Fresh Ground Black Pepper – To Taste

Directions

1. Preheat grill on high while also preheating a mesh grilling basket

2. Cut Cherry Heirloom Tomatoes in half and drizzle with 1 tsp. of the olive oil.

3. Place the tomatoes in the preheated basket and grill for 1-2 minutes.

4. Put grilled tomatoes in a bowl and add tsp of olive oil, 2 Tbsp of chopped fennel greens, 1/2 tsp fresh garlic minced, 1 tsp. Balsamic Vinegar. Stir well and season to taste with sea salt and fresh ground black pepper.

5. Season and grill the burgers as desired.

6. Brush the Artisan Sour Dough Bread with Olive Oil and grill both sides.

7. Assemble the burgers by spreading 1 Tbsp. of Stone Ground Mustard on the bottom slice of grilled sour dough bread.

8. Next spread 2 Tbsp of fresh Arugula.

9. Place the grilled burger on the Arugula and generously top burger with the Grilled Cherry Heirloom Tomato and Fennel Salad.

10. Finish each with the top slice of grilled sour dough bread and serve.

Omaha Steaks Burger with Chevre Goat Cheese and Roasted Pepper Pesto

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 15 minutes

Total Time 30 minutes

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 4 Omaha Steaks Burgers
  • 4 oz Chevre Goat Cheese
  • 4 Whole Wheat Buns
  • 1/2 cup Roasted Red Pepper Pesto 4 Large Beef Steak Tomato Slices
  • 4 Green Leaves

Procedure

1. Prepare the Roasted Red Pepper Pesto ahead of time.

2. Preheat grill on high. Remove frozen burgers from packaging and grill for 6-8 minutes on each side, taking care not to burn. Sprinkle crumbled Chevre Goat Cheese on each burger before removing from the grill.

3. Lightly toast the Whole Wheat Buns.

4. Spread 1 Tbsp of Roasted Red Pepper Pesto on each half of bun.

5. Place burgers on buns and top with green leaf and tomato slices.

Roasted Red Pepper Pesto

Makes about 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Roasted Red Peppers peeled, seeded and chopped
  • 1/4 Cup Garlic Cloves Peeled 1⁄2 Cup Pine nuts Toasted
  • 2 Tbsp. Fresh Chopped Basil 1 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 1⁄4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese Grated 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1⁄2 Cup Olive Oil

Directions

1. Combine all ingredients but the Olive Oil in a food processor or a blender and purée until smooth.

2. Next add the oil slowly in a thin stream with the food processor running until it is completely combined.

Grilled Omaha Steaks Burger with Lemon Dill Tartar Sauce

Prep Time 5 minutes

Cook Time 10 minutes

Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 Omaha Steaks Burgers
  • 4 Poppy seed Buns
  • 1/2 Cup Omaha Steaks Lemon Dill Tartar Sauce 4 Green Leaves
  • 4 Beefsteak Tomato Slices

Procedure

1. Clean and preheat grill to medium (400°F). Remove burgers from packaging while still frozen. Lightly oil burgers to prevent sticking. Grill covered for 4-5 minutes on each side or until internal temperature reaches 160°F

2. Lightly toast the Poppy seed Buns on the grill.

3. Spread 1 Tbsp. of Omaha Steaks Lemon Dill Tartar Sauce on each half of a bun.

4. Place burgers on buns and top with green leaf and a tomato slice.

Omaha Steaks Burger with Jim Beam Black Bourbon Onion Mayonnaise

Prep Time 30 minutes

Cook Time 15 minutes

Total Time 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 each Omaha Steaks Burgers
  • 4 each Onion Buns
  • 2 tsp. Omaha Steaks All Natural Seasoning 1/2 Cup Bourbon Onion Mayonnaise
  • 4 Green Leaves
  • 4 Beefsteak Tomato Slices

Directions

1. Clean and preheat grill to high (600°F). Season burgers as desired with Omaha Steaks All Natural Seasoning. Grill until internal temperature reads 160°F

2. Lightly toast the Onion Buns

3. Spread 1 Tbsp. of Bourbon Onion Mayonnaise on each half of buns.

4.Place burgers on buns and top with green leaf and tomato slice.

Jim Beam Black Bourbon Onion Mayonnaise

Makes 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. Canola Oil
  • 1 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1 large Yellow Onion, Sliced
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Sea Salt
  • 1/8 tsp. Black Pepper
  • 1/4 cup Beef Au jus*
  • 1/2 cup Jim Beam Black Bourbon 1 Cup Mayonnaise

Procedure

1. Heat oil over medium heat.

2. Add butter and brown slightly.

3. Add sliced onions and cook while stirring for about 10 minutes or until onions just begin to caramelize.

4. Add Brown Sugar, Salt and Pepper. Stir well, reduce heat to medium low and continue cooking for 20-30 minutes.

5. When onions are caramelized, add the Beef Au Jus and Jim Beam Black Bourbon

6. Cook until onions have a nice brown color.

7. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

8. Place onions in food processor and pulse until smooth.

9. Combine in mixing bowl with mayonnaise and mix until smooth.

Chicago-Style Hot Dog

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Cook Time: 5 Minutes

Total Time: 15 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 Omaha Steaks Gourmet Frank
  • 1 poppy seed hot dog bun
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sweet green pickle relish 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 4 tomato wedges
  • 1 dill pickle spear
  • 2 sport peppers
  • 1 dash celery salt

Directions

1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Reduce heat to low, place hot dog in water, and cook 5 minutes or until done. Remove hot dog and set aside. Carefully place a steamer basket into the pot and steam the hot dog bun 2 minutes or until warm.

2. Place hot dog in the steamed bun. Pile on the toppings in this order: yellow mustard, sweet green pickle relish, onion, tomato wedges, pickle spear, sport peppers, and celery salt. The tomatoes should be nestled between the hot dog and the top of the bun. Place the pickle between the hot dog and the bottom of the bun.

Note: Chicago Style Hot Dogs typically do not include catchup, but feel free to add it if you like.

New York Style Hot Dogs

Prep Time: 20 Minutes

Cook Time: 15 Minutes

Total Time: 35 min

Ingredients

  • 4 Omaha Steaks Gourmet Franks Boiled 4 hot dog buns
  • 1/4 Cup Brown Mustard
  • 1 Cup New York Style Hot Dog Onions

Directions

1. Put the boiled hot dogs onto steamed buns.

2. Spread the bottom half of each bun with some mustard and top each hot dog generously with the New York style onions.

New York Style Hot Dog Onions

Makes about 1 cup

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 medium onions, cut into 1/4-inch slices 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

Directions

1. Heat the oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

2. Add the onions and sauté until they are soft.

3. Stir in the honey, cinnamon and chili powder and cook for 1 minute.

4. Add the ketchup, water, hot sauce, salt and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until mixture thickens, about 10 to 15 minutes.

5. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and let it cool to room temperature before serving.

Note: The onions can be refrigerated, covered, for up to 2 days.

Bacon and Egg Breakfast Franks

Prep Time 5 minutes

Cook Time 5 minutes

Total Time 10 minutes

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 4 Omaha Steaks Gourmet Franks Thawed 8 Slices Omaha Steaks Precooked Bacon 4 Hot Dog Buns
  • 4 Large Eggs

Directions

1. Place 8 sliced of bacon in microwave for 20 seconds to make it more pliable.

2. Wrap 2 slices of bacon around each frank in a spiral pattern using tooth picks to hold the bacon in place.

3. Place the 4 bacon wrapped franks on a microwave safe plate lined with a paper towel, then place a paper towel on top of them.

4. Pan fry each egg to over easy.

5. While cooking the eggs microwave the bacon wrapped franks for 2 minutes on high.

6. Carefully remove each tooth pick from the frank and place in a bun.

7. Top each frank with an over-easy egg. The yolk will become your sauce.

Chili Dogs

Prep Time 30 minutes

Cook Time 10 minutes

Total Time 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 Omaha Steaks Gourmet Franks
  • 4 Hot Dog Buns
  • 1 each 16 oz Bag Omaha’s Steakhouse Chili
  • 1/4 cup Grated Cheddar Cheese 1/4 cup Chopped White Onions 2 Tbsp. Chopped Green Onion

Procedure

1. Bring enough water to a boil in a pot to submerge chili bag. Place bag of chili in water. Reduce heat to medium and let simmer 30 minutes.

2. Heat the Omaha Steaks Gourmet Franks according to directions on box.

3. Place a frank in each bun and top with hot Chili, grated cheddar cheese and chopped white onions.
