Forget Paper, Canvas: Print Your Pics On Wood

The Classic Wood Prints site just launched this month, and they’re taking on the ever growing number of companies that tell us we should have our selfies printed on canvas, framed and hung over the fireplace—just like the bigwig executive and old-money family portraits of yesteryear.

That’s all well and good, if you want to be like everyone else. Or you can ratchet things up a bit and get your pics immortalized in wood. Solid, ¾-inch Baltic birch, grown right here in the US of A.

Just choose your size—you can go as small as 6” x 6” ($25.95), or go all the way, grab some big wood and get the 24” x 36” panel ($259.95)—then upload your pic, and in 2-4 days, Classic Wood Prints ships your print to you.

Any pic will work, but they recommend using a lighter image, something that lets the natural beauty of the wood grain come through and make for a more interesting print. (Like it does in the sky seen in the pic above.)

And if you don’t have any pics that are wood worthy, Classic has a pretty extensive collection of prints you can choose from, using shots taken by professional artists. In case your dude den is screaming for a wood print of a buffalo crossing a highway, and you don’t live where the buffalo roam.

Don’t worry about damaging the environment either. Baltic birch is harvested for construction purposes only, so no natural forests are cut down—and with every purchase, Classic donates a portion of the proceeds to Plantit2020.org to plant trees for them.

Every Classic wood print comes with a groove cut into the back for hanging, and sizes up to 11” x 14” feature a smaller groove at the bottom. Slide the included wood chip into the small groove, and it becomes a stand, to proudly display your piece of photographic mastery on your desk or tabletop.
