New York Fashion Week | Malan Breton: Spring/Summer 2016

During the inaugural New York Fashion Week, internationally acclaimed fashion designer Malan Breton presented a collection for men and women inspired by his recent travels to Taiwan’s “Sun Moon Lake”. The men’s collection was the surprise of the event, provoking “Oooo’s and Ahhhh’s” from the crowd.

Breton’s collections have already received critical acclaim in the mainstream fashion media. This season Breton continues his “Journey to Taiwan” series with a collection called “Reflections”.  The show incorporated visual elements drawing from his rich background in the arts and traditional Taiwanese dying techniques, embroideries, silks, and fibers that will bring this eastern-inspired collection into a modern western silhouette. Each look was stunning and creative in it’s own way; if you’ve never been to Taiwan, this is definitely a show that would make you want to get there as soon as possible.

If designing wasn’t enough, in 2015 Breton took on the role of film director for the award winning fashion film “Malan Breton – A Journey to Taiwan”, (see the connection?) in which Breton starred, wrote, sang, and directed. The film won “Best Documentary Short” at the NYC International Film Festival.

So, if you’re in NYC and are lucky enough to snag a ticket, Malan has teamed up with cancer research charity, Sound Affects, donating to the organization the proceeds raised from the auctioning of the women’s collection finale gown.

The auction will take place during his NYFW Wrap Party this Wednesday, September 15th.
