Utility lives in your hair.
The holistic gadget store Monkey Business has just released to the public a $9 barrette that has just as many functions as your average Victorinox Classic. The Clippa Blackfin, through a rather clever design utilizing every edge of the a barrette, comes equipped with a scraper, a nail file, a box opener, a serrated edge, a ruler, a bottle opener, and two different sized screwdrivers. The Clippa Lady provides all the same, but in pink. The Original model swaps out the bottle opener for a small hex-wrench. And yes, it operates perfectly well as a barrette.

In an age when a lot of tech is designed merely to waste time (how many apps are useful, and how many are game-like things intended for use at bus stops and in airports?), it’s refreshing to see a piece of physical, holdable tech that actually offers up practical utility. And here’s the biggest advantage to the Clippa: you can carry it on an airplane without a zealous TSA agent throwing it away at security.
