Here’s What Apple Has Fixed in the iOS 9.0.1 Update

Apple has released iOS 9.0.1, an update to iOS 9 that eradicates a major bug that was identified by Apple product owners.

iOS 9 was released on September 16th, with it largely being a success for Apple, bringing with it multiple improvements and a few new additional features to the mobile operating system, including the company’s highly anticipated Apple News. However, some found themselves confronted by a particularly crippling bug, in that their devices would freeze after their device told them to “Slide to Upgrade.”

Apple informed users who found themselves struggling with the bug of a workaround, which required them to perform a force restart and then restore their device from a backup on iTunes, though many still encountered the same issue after doing so. Apple then informed users that they should perform a factory reset and device restore, which inevitably sparked many complaints.

Here are the fixes that were issued in the iOS 9.0.1 update, as stated by Apple:

  • Fixes an issue where some users could not complete setup assistant after updating.
  • Fixes an issue where sometimes alarms and times could fail to play.
  • Fixes an issue in Safari and Photos where pausing video could cause the paused frame to appear distorted.
  • Fixes an issue where some users with a custom APN setup via a profile would lose cellular data.

Apple have claimed that iOS 9 has been the company’s most successful iOS launch yet, with over 50% of Apple devices housing the operating system already, meaning that users have adopted it faster than any of their previous iOS releases.

It’s a big launch for Apple, too, what with the company having a number of big hardware releases around the corner that will launch with iOS 9 as standard, including the iPhone 6s and the upcoming super-sized iPad Pro.

You can install iOS 9.0.1 right now by heading to Settings>General>Software Update on your iOS device, then agreeing to the new Terms & Conditions.
