Best Non-Alcoholic Beers That Actually Taste Like Beer

So, you want to enjoy a beer but you don’t want to get that pesky drunk feeling that comes with it. Maybe you’re a little sensitive to alcohol and 4-6% is a little too much for you to handle or you are trying not to imbibe alcohol for whatever reason. It’s not our business why you’re doing it, but we would like you to actually enjoy what you’re drinking. Just because these beers don’t have alcohol, that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t still have a reasonable beer-like flavor. If you wanted to drink something that tasted like fizzy water, you would drink seltzer water.

It seems like pretty much every major beer maker has its own non-alcoholic brew. To be fair, none of these beers are non-alcoholic. In order for the drink to still be called a beer, it must contain trace amounts of alcohol. Most of the listed beers are around .50% alcohol by volume. Not all of them are worth trying. Here are some of the best tasting non-alcoholic beers.

Best Tasting Non-Alcoholic Beers

Kaliber (Guinness)

Surprisingly, this beer actually does contain alcohol (only .50% though). It is by no means a Guinness, but it pours dark and has a fragrance of oats and cereal. The flavor is malty and sweet with a grain-like aftertaste. It’s one of the most well-liked non-alcoholic beers.

Coors NA (Coors)

Like Kaliber, Coors NA contains .50% alcohol by volume. This beer pours a very light, yellow and you are instantly greeted with hints of roasted malts and citrus. The flavor is malty and sweet. It’s a reasonably refreshing beer as non-alcoholic beers go.

Becks Alkoholfrei (Becks)

Like the previous two, this beer does contain trace amounts of alcohol (.30%). It pours a pale yellow and begins with smells of bread, cereal and grain. The taste is similar to the smell with hints of cereal, grain and citrus. It finishes with a slight cut-grass flavor that makes this beer on the more enjoyable side of non-alcoholic beers.

St. Pauli NA (St. Pauli)

This, like all of the previous beers contains a low amount of alcohol (.50%). It pours a pale yellow and is quite fizzy. The first scents noticeable scents are floral, bread and sweet corn. The taste is strong on corn flavor as well as citrus and fresh, baked bread. A great non-alcoholic beer if you can handle the sweet, grain flavor.

O’Douls Premium (Anheuser-Busch)

O’Douls Premium is .50% ABV and has a sweet, malty, very mild taste with a slight dry finish. Like its counterpart O’Douls Amber, Premium is brewed similar to a traditional beer. It’s fermented and aged before the alcohol is removed through distillation. This is done very gently to insure that the beer remains malty and sweet.

If you are trying to cut down on your alcohol intake for any reason, are some of the other Non-Alcoholic beers worth trying: Buckler (Heineken), Clausthaler Golden Amber (Clausthaler), Erdinger NA (Erdinger), Gerstel NA (Gerstel), Paulaner Thomas Brau (Paulaner) and Bitburger Drive (Bitburger).
