Fluxo is currently at the tail-end of a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign, having garnered 400% of its funding goal in just 10 days on on the crowdfunding platform, amassing over €310,000 (roughly $336,000) with it still having over a week left until the campaign concludes.
Billed as the “world’s smartest lamp,” Fluxo tailors the lighting in a room to suit your needs. However, rather than just altering the color of a light/lowering its brightness, Fluxo can also move light around the room in order to position it where you want it. This means that if, for instance, you wish to move the lighting away from your TV while you’re watching a film, but also don’t want to shroud your living space in darkness, you can instead have the Fluxo lamp move it somewhere else. Or if you’re working at your desk, Fluxo can target the light towards you so you can clearly see what you’re doing.
Fluxo utilizes an iOS and Android app in order to do this, with the user able to make brush-like strokes along their device in order to shift Fluxo’s focus. There’s also the added ability of changing a lighting scheme in room, with Fluxo not only able to switch between colors, but with it also being capable of mixing a few colors together.
Fluxo is also capable of “smart learning,” with the lamp analyzing which light scenes you use at certain points throughout the day, creating suggested light scenes as a result. Describing this feature, Fluxo’s creators say: “When you are going to the bathroom during the night, FLUXO will turn on the appropriate “dimmed” light scene to illuminate your way without blinding, or, when you watch TV most days at 8pm, FLUXO turns on your favorite TV light scene when you enter the room. ” If you dislike Fluxo’s suggested light scenes, you also have the option of overriding them.
Fluxo connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth, and it does not access the Cloud so there is no risk of the company tracking your movements across your home in accordance with where you position the lamp’s light.
The lamp is available to pre-purchase for backers of the project, with it costing €339 ($363). This price is set to increase at retail.
