MIT’s Donald Trump Twitter-Bot Sounds a Lot Like the Real Thing

Computer programmer Bradley Hayes, an AI researcher at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) has created an artificially intelligent Donald Trump robot. Using algorithms that identify patterns and seek solutions in a similar fashion to a human brain – essentially by creating a computer that can learn – Hayes has made a machine that has analyzed Donald Trump speeches and patois, and which can recreate original quotes based on what he has said.

Hayes previously built such an AI machine that would read and then recreate quotations in the style of William Shakespeare. He has said that modeling and mapping a Trump speech pattern was far easier, as Trump’s vocabulary is much smaller and easier; Trump typically speaks an elementary school level. The AI listened to several hours of Trump’s speeches, and is able to create thoughts, one letter at a time.

And what did Hayes do with this Trump-Bot? Let it loose on Twitter, of course.

You can currently follow @DeepDrumpf on Twitter to see the AI at work. The tweets are frequently nonsensical, but hilarious nonetheless. A choice tweet: “I will find the donors on the process, because our leaders don’t understand the good ones. I have them all, all the strong, incredible people.” The name “Drumpf” comes from a recent rant from comedian John Oliver, who pointed out that was the name of Trump’s ancestors before his name was bowdlerized.

It’s astonishing how accurate it is to the real deal.
