Burn Rubber was founded 2004, but it was only in 2007 when it was taken over by Rick Williams and Roland Coit that the shop really started to gain some steam. What was once a small store for locals to get their coveted, limited release Nikes or street style staples like track pants and killer crewnecks, has expanded to include some excellent partnerships. Most recently, Burn Rubber teamed up with Reebok, for a collaboration that pays homage to a hip-hop artist with everlasting influence: The Notorious B.I.G.
The Burn Rubber x Reebox Classics: “Stink Pink Gators, Detroit Playas Collection” are salmon pink colored sneakers made of a mix of suede and alligator-embossed leather, with a hint of reflective 3M fabric. Made to commemorate the birthday of the late Biggie Smalls (born May 21, 1972), the shoes embody one of his most famous lyrics, “Stink Pink Gators, my Detroit players…” from the song “Hypnotize”.
Of course, they’re a very limited release. These sneakers become available on Saturday, April 30, at 12am EST @ BurnRubberSneakers.com and will, no doubt, sell out promptly.
