Here’s something you can show your parents the next time they tell you the internet is nothing more than a tool for jerking off and buying 55-gallon drums of lube.

According to CBS News, a 66-year-old man who went missing in India 40 years ago was reunited with his family this past week after they recognized him in a YouTube video that went viral.

Khomdram Gambhir Singh left the town of Imphal when he was just 26 and had been spending his time working construction until he suffered a few accidents and got hooked on the sauce. His whereabouts remained unknown for 40 years until he was recorded singing a song from a popular Hindi film on the streets of Mumbai.

Firoze Shakir is the man who shot the video in October of last year, and he said that he started recording Singh singing on a whim, as it was something he had seen him do all the time.

“He was making money as a beggar signing old Hindi songs,” Shakir said. “This is something that has happened accidentally but I am hoping this video touches hearts. This story is a ray of hope. If a video can change a man’s life there can be no bigger miracle than this.”

Well said.

For Singh’s sake, he’s lucky he chose to sing something worth recording. I mean, imagine if he would have chosen to sing something by Lil Wayne instead.
