Marco Reus Will Be the FIFA 17 Cover Star

Marco Reus has been named as the FIFA 17 cover star.

The Borussia Dortmund player beat out strong competition from the likes of James Rodriguez, Eden Hazard and Anthony Martial in a fan vote, with the 27-year-old now set to adorn the box of the annual EA football game.

Reus has been a talisman for the German national squad, with him set to take over Mats Hummel’s role as Dortmund’s captain during the club’s next season.

Reus released a statement, saying: “I’m honoured to join a very distinguished group of footballers to appear on the cover of FIFA. Most of all I am humbled that the fans have chosen me, and I will strive to make them proud with my performance on the pitch.”

EA also posted a video of Reus thanking fans for their supports, which you can view below:

FIFA 17 will be released worldwide on September 29th for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, with it set to release a little earlier in North America on September 27th.
