Christopher Plummer To Receive Award At Canadian Screen Awards

Iconic home-grown actor Christopher Plummer will receive a lifetime achievement award at the Canadian Screen Awards.

Born in Toronto and having attended university at McGill in Montreal, the celebrated actor has had success on stage, on television, and in film. He has two Emmys, two Tonys, a Golden Globe and an Oscar under his belt, and in 1998, he was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame.

“Every year, the academy has the honour of celebrating those who have made immense contributions to our cultural landscape through their artistry,” academy chair Martin Katz said in a statement (CBC News). “Christopher Plummer is one of the greatest actors of his generation who has delighted audiences with his iconic performances. We are elated to have him as this year’s distinct guest of honour.”

The Canadian Screen Awards will be broadcast from Toronto’s Sony Centre for the Performing Arts on March 12th, and will be hosted by funnyman Howie Mandell.
