Boston Calling Mixtape: The Sounds of Summer’s Final Festival

This weekend marks the 2014 installment of Boston Calling, which will take place Sept. 5-7 on City Hall Plaza and features Brooklyn-based indie deities The National, who headlined the inaugural edition of Boston Calling last May. Joining them will be Grammy-winning pop chanteuse Lorde, garage rock legends The Replacements, alt-folk cult magnets Neutral Milk Hotel, and New York legend Nas, who recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of his seminal album “Illmatic”. He’ll be backed by Fallon house band The Roots.

Meanwhile, the undercard is a steady run of guaranteed goodness, featuring dance-hybridizer Girl Talk, Childish Gambino, Spoon, Bleachers, The Hold Steady and more. There’s also a run of aftershows planned, featuring Questlove of The Roots, White Denim and more.
