This Sunday will be a showdown: Super Bowl XLVII, between the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers and the AFC champion Baltimore Ravens. Story lines are abundant: brother coaching against brother; Ray Lewis facing allegations of banned substance use as he prepares to play his final game as a pro; 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick making his first start just weeks ago and is now in position to lead his team to a Super Bowl win — now we have one of the best live photo bomb reactions ever after a New Orleans reporter asked an unsuspecting 49ers fan how long she’s had STD.
You read that right. An STD.
Can you imagine if a reporter came up to you on the street and asked you for an interview and the first question was, “Hi, how long have you had full-blown AIDS?”
Beyond awkward.
Thankfully this California chick handled it really well and was a good sport.
The reporter looks to be Sula Kim, a seasoned vet who’s been with the station since May of last year according to their Channel 6 website. I actually commend Kim’s response to the video-bombing fan at first, reacting casual and calm, yet appropriately confrontational. However, not double-checking if her new friend was a set-up interview in correlation to her topic from her photographer or producer first was a mistake.
In her bio, Kim writes, “And there are so many stories to be told in and around New Orleans. It’s a magical city.” Yup, STD rates are climbing significantly on Bourbon street. Magical.
If any magical happens this Sunday, I hope it’s a last second game-winning field goal and nothing to do with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, Herpes, or anything else you wouldn’t want to chat with mom about at the dinner table.
