Adelaide Crows Sack Coach Brenton Sanderson

AFL’s Adelaide Crows have parted ways with coach Brenton Sanderson, with reports claiming that the club has today sacked the crows chief.

In his third year as Adelaide coach, Sanderson this year didn’t manage to get his team over the line with Adelaide finishing 10th this season to miss out on a finals place. According to the ABC, the Crows have made the decision to part ways with Sanderson.

The club have released a statement saying that the decision follows an extensive review of the Club’s football operations. “Brenton is a quality person and accomplished coach, but recent weeks have unearthed a need for change,” Chairman Rob Chapman said. “Both parties have realised they have different perspectives on where we are at as a footy team.”

“It is a tough decision but one the Club feels pushes us closer to realising our ambitions,” he added. “We would like to thank Brenton for his contribution and wish him every success.” Sanderson, 40, had renewed his contract last year to remain at the club until the end of the 2016 season. In his tenure, he has coached 39 wins from 69 matches.

The news follows the appointment of former ACT Brumbies chief executive Andrew Fagan as the Crows’ new boss on Monday, replacing Steven Trigg. The club says it is embarking on a nation-wide search to find a new coach.
