The great thing about Shakespeare is that even though he wrote plays centuries ago, they’re all still relevant, so you can set them at pretty much any time. We’ve seen Shakespeare adaptations set in the future (Forbidden Planet), the present (West Side Story), World War I (Richard III) and even in that weird MTV dimension that no longer seems to exist anymore (Romeo + Juliet).
The latest in a long line time-displaced Shakespeare adaptations, Cymbeline, takes Shakespeare’s tale of royal backstabbing and sets it in the world of modern day biker gangs, complete with an awesome cast that includes Ethan Hawke (Boyhood), Ed Harris (Apollo 13), Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), Penn Badgley (Easy A), John Leguizamo (Moulin Rouge!) and Delroy Lindo (The Cider House Rules).
It’s a big cast of characters, and so Lionsgate is releasing a whole series of character cards featuring the talent from Cymbeline.
