Hot Sauce-Flavored Ice Cream Is Here to Ruin Your Summer (And Taste Buds)

If you’re a fan of ice cream, regardless of where you live, there are grocery stores stocked with myriad flavors and likely ice cream shops carrying countless, unique, exciting flavors. Gone are the days when you had to choose between Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry (although all three are still great choices). You can eat such odd flavors as Everything Bagel, Steak and Bourbon, Sweet Corn, and even Goat Cheese and Roasted Beets. So, it should come as no surprise that there’s now a hot sauce-based ice cream.

Double Rainbow in a collaboration with Tia Lupita Foods just launched an ice cream called Chipotle Chocolate Chip. While that doesn’t sound like the spiciest ice cream of all time, it features a base of Double Rainbow’s Ultra Chocolate Ice Cream, fudge chips, and Tia Lupita’s Chipotle Hot Sauce.

For those wondering, Tia Lupita Chipotle Hot Sauce is a smoky, savory, all-natural hot sauce. While the Scoville units aren’t listed, chipotle peppers fall somewhere between 2,500 and 10,000 on the Scoville scale. For reference, jalapeno peppers are only around 2,500 units. It’s safe to say this is a pretty spicy scoop of ice cream.

If heat and cream are your thing, you can grab some of this spicy ice cream at both tialupitafoods.com and doublerainbow.com now for only $8.99.
