Grace Digital Primo Wifi Receiver Chooses a Retro Look

There’s something strangely retro about the Grace Primo Internet Radio. Or, it might be more accurate to describe the device as futuristic in a way designers thought their future might look like 30 years ago – with its console design, large central knob, simple push buttons and small video screen. That’s all part of its charm.

While this Grace Digital receiver would fit right in on the charming set of the original Star Trek, its functionality is entirely modern. It has a built in 802.11n wireless connection to connect to any Wi-Fi router and play music directly from the Internet via 108 pre-saved channels or services like Pandora. That wireless connection also streams music files from any PC or Mac directly on a home stereo.

General features include:

  • Integrated 3.5″ LCD screen.
  • Store up to 108 stations for easy access.
  • Save up to eight one-button presets and 100 stations.
  • Connectivity includes built in 802.11n Wi-Fi, stereo headset jack, AC power jack, RCA line out and USB port.
  • Connects your home stereo directly to your Internet without the need of a computer.

It’s important to note that Grace Digital Primo is not an Internet radio in and of itself. It’s a receiver that needs a proper speaker connection to make its music. Its purpose is to bring the Internet’s music home to equipment already prepped for CDs, MP3s, etc. It does that job as reliably as any online radio I’ve tested, but overall sound quality will depend on your sound system.
