Pete Davidson is a hot commodity right now, personally and professionally. Whether or not that has anything to do with his 9-month fling with Kim Kardashian, we can’t say, but one thing we know for sure is that the Saturday Night Alum is not hurting for employment opportunities.
Next up for The King of Staten Island star? A rom-com co-starring Kaley Cuoco. It’s appropriately titled Meet Cute, and, yup, the plot follows Sheila and Gary, a couple of strangers who fall in love at first sight…or do they? The twist is that Sheila has a time machine, and has been using it to fall head over heels for Gary over and over and over again. (If you’re thinking this sounds a little bit like Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore’s 50 First Dates, you’re not alone.)
“When the perfect night is never quite enough, Sheila travels to Gary’s past to change him into the perfect man,” the film synopsis states.
Director Alex Lehmann is the man behind the movie, and he jokingly teased Meet Cute’s premise in a statement: “If I had a time machine right now, I’d be torn. Do I skip ahead to our release date or do I go back and relive the joy of making this film?” he said. “Lucky for me, it’s a decision I don’t get to make. I’m excited for audiences to get swept away on this wild romantic ride.”
A wild romantic ride? Isn’t that an oxymoron? We’ll all find out together when Meet Cute starts streaming on Peacock on Sept. 21. Or we’ll just keep following Pete Davidson’s real-life romantic comedy. It never fails to surprise us.
